Creating a spark

Back in July 2019, I felt the urge to start a blog tugging at me, except I had no experience in (online) writing, and the fear of starting a blog was as real as it got.

I read a few PDFs on blogging, listened to several podcast episodes, and watched hundreds of hours of YouTube videos, all to prepare me for the fight ahead.

The turning point

The big turning point came when I read an article on Medium.com. Sadly, I don’t remember who wrote it. But in it, the author sought to question why every aspiring writer hadn’t started a blog when starting one was the easiest thing to do in 2019.

That, for me, was the end of all excuses and complaints. The next day, I began the thankless task of finding the perfect name for my blog, shopping hosting packages, the works.

Payback time

Thirteen months on, I have chosen to return the favor by starting The Spark Journal: a publication in which I hope every article you read challenges you, dear reader, to take action on making small changes in your life and your world at large.

I want every post to not only give you that spark you need to take the next step but to share something…
