We’re Drowning in Digital Content — Here’s Your Survival Guide

No one is coming to save you

The content torrent is unrelenting. That’s why an announcement that should please everyone got me shaking my head.

I wasn’t exactly excited when Football Weekly, my favorite soccer podcast, announced they’ll have a pod every day of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

I thought to myself: “hm, I love your content, but I don’t know if I can listen to you every day without getting bored.”

Never mind that it’s hard for me to keep up with the almost-daily NBA-related pods from ESPN. And that’s discounting the few random episodes of any tech pod that catches my eye.

But that’s for only podcasts.

Thankfully, I’ve limited my YouTube consumption — even my beloved TED channel gets nothing more than a few random visits per month.

I read a few blogs, though the numbers are also down significantly. I get email notifications and Google Now recommendations, most of which, you guessed it, I just can’t keep pace with.

I join invites for webinars that matter to me.

Then there’s a bit of social media content to consume. Thankfully, I haven’t yet caught the TikTok bug. I haven’t been to Insta in ages, and my…
