Here’s a simple test to take.

Do you generally consider yourself a happy person?

That’s a rhetorical question someone recently threw at me as he joined one of our conversations around happiness.

I figured I was happy only about half the time. But even then, I had a few ifs and buts.

You see, no one can be plugged into happiness 24/7. Many things could knock points off your happiness score — disappointment, tragic news, and a general meh mood some days. And those are okay.

But I know some people who have learned to shake off those issues and appear to stay happy no matter what. In my everyday life, I see it. I’m even friends with a few of them.

When one sat one down recently for answers on some things that make people like him happy most of the time, here are a few rules he said people like him followed always.

Don’t obsess over being happy

No unhealthy obsessions over being the happiest kid on the block. Isn’t it strange that the more we chase something, the more it seems to elude us?
