Medium Finally Answers Our Prayers by Enlarging Partner Program Pool

Here’s what it means to me

49 months ago, I had one giant, specific prayer.

It was that my country (Ghana) would one day be accepted into the Medium Partner Program. After 48 months nothing seemed to be happening on that front.

Change after change was introduced on the platform, but none touched my prayer. Okay, maybe something was brewing behind the scenes, but I had no way to know.

To say I had given up believing that prayer would be a massive understatement. It seemed all hope had vanished. I figured it’d never happen in my (writer’s) lifetime. Until the unexpected happened.

While casually strolling through my inbox one afternoon, I saw an email from Illumination with the subject line: “Wonderful News for the Community. Medium now supports 77 new countries.”

I followed up with the link and landed on the good, good news published on the Medium Blog. I folded my sleeves to devour the details.

I didn’t know what to make of that piece of welcome news. Over the years, we’ve heard whispers about gradually expanding enrollment into the partner program.

Even so, I never dreamt some countries like mine could make the cut. But finally…
