After about an hour, my new graphic designer from 4,200 miles away in Karachi, Pakistan, sent me an email containing a vector file, a png, and a jpg format of my new logo.

I had met her on Fiverr, and true to her promise, she delivered a stunning logo in under one hour for an eye-watering $5. My side business was quickly taking shape.

In 2020, the side-hustle culture has become the new normal. More than 44 million Americans have a side hustle. If you can weather the risks, I would say to give it a shot. The benefit of another stream of income makes it an appealing proposition.

With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I knew more about these five skills than I did when I launched mine in 2017.

Sales

I didn’t regard sales that highly when I ventured into photography. Okay, I thought all there was to sales was going door-to-door, product in hand, and well-rehearsed scripts in mind.
