Hi Kathy. Thanks for warm feedback. On developing your tone, it depends on your audience and what you're writing.

Assuming you're permitted to write in an informal tone, you can start with a few lighthearted humor, striking metaphor, and some street slang (nah, whew, tut-tut, etc. (like you would talk to your friends in an informal setting).

Of course, do it sparingly at the start. Too many, and Grammarly and editors will frustrate you (happens to me every day)

Lastly, it's hard to point to one piece that truly got me started, but "Hi, Style is seasonless now," and "Should leggings just go ahead and officially become workwear" are two that come to mind. (September 2020 edition).
