Here in Ghana, we crack the coconut with a machete.

But instead of gorging the 'eyes,' we start at the other end. Some skillful tradespeople know just how to take off part of the top, drain it of the water.

Then, they'll usually hold it in one hand, while the other hand lands the cutlass several times on the coconut in hand.

I'm not brave enough to attempt that.
