In one of the last articles I read before I went away, the author shared some deeply touching thoughts about how, one day, each of us would do something the last time.

At that point, I wondered if I had published my last article. Part of me thought so. And why not?

Three and a half years into something that was never on any grand plan felt like a lot of time to stay off course. Or at least to keep trekking on an alternative route. But there were even bigger issues.

Okay, I won’t bore you with all the many challenges of playing the online writing game from my corner of the world. At times, it felt like I had next to no strength to scale all those frustrating hurdles that kept coming up.

I thought I’d just quietly disappear from the online writing scene altogether. Temporarily, or for good, it mattered little. And quietly disappear I did.

Gone, but not forgotten

While away, I still heard the roaring applause and feedback many of you left on my work. I apologize for not responding. How rude of me, right?

Also, the many emails and calls that came through were simply heartwarming. Total strangers who have never seen me and may never…
