The perfect tagline. The perfect logo. The perfect product.

Everybody seems to want to nail the perfect everything before they start. People have tied themselves in knots of perfection when all they should have done was take the first step, as imperfect as it may be.

From experience, I have learned to err on the side of imperfection.

I launched my first blog when I didn’t even have an SSL certificate ready, for example. I started my photography side business without a Yellow Page of clients I could fall on.

I just did it.

How can you take that first step if you are grappling with the desire to get every piece right before you start?

Break your goal into mini targets with timelines

Have you ever had to come up with a proposal within a given time? How did you go about it?

When you give yourself a deadline, you focus all your effort on meeting that deadline. Or you miss out on the benefits at stake; financial rewards, promotion, or a grand launch of your project.
